Myofascial Release/
Physiotherapy

Myofascial release (MFR) is a unique form of physiotherapy/massage therapy. MFR is an effective hands on, whole body approach that evaluates and treats the CAUSE of symptoms, eliminating pain and restoring motion and ideal function.

John Barnes Myofascial Release targets the internal continuous web of fascia (connective tissue) and all its’ connections. The fascia is similar to a spider web, 3 dimensional and surrounding and penetrating into every organ, muscle and cell through the body. Because of this, restrictions in the fascia can not only affect muscles, yet can affect all systems in the body; vascular, neurological, cardiac, lymphatic, digestive etc. When the fascia is constricted, it can exert 1000lbs of pressure on 1 square inch! The fascia is also known for its’ communicating ability through its’ fluid nature, delivering important messages around the body to assist in restoring and enhancing balance and health. Overtime, our fascia can become restricted from various trauma, injuries and from lack of hydration and proper nutrition. A myofascial release session will assess your posture and investigate where the fascial restrictions are that are pulling you out of an ideal alignment and how they might be contributing to your pain and dysfunction. Fascial restrictions can be found, even far from your symptom area that are causing or contributing to your painful areas. Although we are working mostly on the physical plane of the body, we can sometimes move into the emotional and mental planes when restrictions from previous trauma melt and unprocessed emotions that were held in these physical restrictions now are given space to move and release. Working with the body as a whole and interconnected being allows for more effective and longer lasting, and even permanent beneficial changes.
